Box Score

DANBURY, CT - Junior forward Autumn Sorice (Bethel, CT) scored a pair of goals and the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team rolled to a 5-0 victory over visiting Rhode Island College at The Westside Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The Colonials, which improved to 8-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the Little East Conference, have now five of their last seven games with a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Eastern Connecticut a week ago and a 2-1 loss to Wentworth Tech back on September 26 the only blemishes over a two-week span.

In the 19th minute, Sorice put Western up, 1-0 when she was led 30 yards up field by a pass from Brooke Hellman (Newington, CT) and easily deposited her 11th goal of the season into the back of the net.

Hellman added the only insurance goal the Colonials would need when she scored her first collegiate goal at the 23:08 mark of the first half.  The junior midfielder was set up by freshman Bailey Julian (Simsbury, CT).

With just over 13 minutes remaining before intermission, sophomore forward Allison Oakley (Beekman, NY) came off the bench to score her fourth goal of the season.  Oakley headed home a Celia DeVoe (Farmington, CT) corner kick to give Western a 3-0 advantage at the break.

Sorice added her 12 goal of the season and 27th career goal in the 51st minutes of play.

Paige Martin (Cromwell, CT) assisted on Sorice's last goal and Andrea DeVoe's (Farmington, CT) marker in the 57th minute to close out the day's scoring.
