Box Score DANBURY, CT - Senior midfielder Kelsey Chacho (Plainville, CT) scored a pair of goals in the first half and the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team went on to defeat Clark University, 5-0 at The WAC on Monday night.
Sophomore Autumn Sorice (Bethel, CT) added her team-leading fifth marker of the season, and registered an assist on both of Chacho's tallies. He goal at the six minute mark proved to be all the Colonials would need on the night.
Freshman Allison Oakley (Beekman, NY) and Samantha Carbonell (Berlin, CT) added insurance goals to round out the scoring for the Colonials, which improve to 5-2-1 on the season.
Sophomore Jillian Fernandez (Columbia, CT) and Victoria Casco (North Haven, CT) split the game in goal for the winners. Fernandez made one save before intermission while Casco turned away four shots in the second stanza.
Senior goalie Gabby Paolini (North Potomac, MD) made seven saves for the Cougars, now 2-4-2.
Western outshot Clark, 22-6 on Monday.
The Colonials next face intra-state and Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday, September 26. Game time is set for 5 pm, shortly after the conclusion of the Western's football game with Framingham State, which kicks off at noon.
