WORCESTER, MA - Emily Newhard (Wallingford, CT) and Andrea Devoe (Farmington, CT) scored goals and the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team defeated winless Clark University, 2-0 in a non-league match on Tuesday night.

The Colonials improve to 4-5 on the season and have now won two games in a row and four of their last seven contest.

Newhard put the visitors on the scoreboard at the 19:53 mark, following a feed from senior Sarah Menta (Newington, CT).

Shortly after the second half began, freshman midfielder Andrea DeVoe finished a crossing pass from Autumn Sorice (Bethel, CT) to close out the scoring in the 47th minute.

Western freshman netminder Jillian Fernandez (Columbia, CT) was challenged just one on the night and turned away Haley Connors attempt.

Gabby Paolini made five saves for the Cougars, now 0-8.

The Colonials held a 17-5 advantage in shots on the night and attempted the game's six corner kicks.

Western plays host to Rhode Island College on Saturday, September 27.  Game time against the Anchorwomen is slated for 1 pm.
