DANBURY, CT - The Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team scored two goals in the opening minutes of the second half and held on to defeat visiting University of St. Joseph, 2-1 in its home opener at The WAC on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Kelsey Chacho (Plainville, CT) put the Colonials up 1-0 when she blasted a shot from 22 yards away over the right shoulder of Blue Jays keeper Melissa Dodge.  Chacho's first goal of the season was set up by Sarah Menta (Newington, CT) in the 51st minute of play.

At 55:11, Western's lone senior Ariana D'Aurio (Cheshire, CT) added her first goal of the young season after Emily Neward (Wallingford, CT) and Meaghan Gustafson (Newington, CT) joined together for a swift set of assists.
