Offense struggles for Western women in 1-0 loss at Farmingdale State

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Freshman midfielder Ashley Appel (Bellmore, N.Y.) scored her first collegiate goal in the 53rd minute leading the Rams to a 1-0 shutout over Western Connecticut (4-2) today. Farmingdale State improves to 3-2 overall with today's win. 

Sophomore forward Ashlee Thompson (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) recorded her first assist of the season, after setting up Appel in left corner. 

Farmingdale State led 11-4 in shots and 3-1 in corner attempts. Sophomore goalkeeper Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) made two saves for the win, while freshman Allison Rettenmeier (Sherman, Conn.) made four saves in defeat. 

The Rams next will host #7 TCNJ in a non-conference game on Saturday, September 14th at 2:00 p.m.
