Box Score 2 WORCESTER, MA (Oct. 2) - The Worcester State University women's soccer team scored the game's only goal with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game to hand Western Connecticut State University its second straight loss and dropping the Colonials to 8-4 on the season.
After playing to a scoreless tie for the first 77 minutes of the game, sophomore Alicia Macomber (Stoughton, MA) beat the Western keeper to give Worcester State the only goal of the night and a 1-0 victory over the visiting Colonials.
For the game, Western held a 13-11 advantage in shots, while both teams were awarded four corner kicks. Western's freshman keeper Alison Rettenmeier (Sherman, CT) made five saves in goal, but suffers the loss, while sophomore Jillian Witkowski (Leicester, MA) finished with seven saves to earn the win.
With the loss, Western now stands at 8-4 on the season, while Worcester State improves to 5-4. The Colonials return to action on Saturday, October 5th, when they host Little East Conference rival Plymouth State at the Westside Athletic Complex. Game time is slated for 12:00pm.
