Genesis Torres begins her second year as assistant coach at her alma mater Western Connecticut State University. She will assist Coach Kimberley Rybczyk with all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the program.
Genesis served as captain her senior year and received the Colonial of the Year Award.
This award is given annually to a student-athlete who exhibits the following attributes to their sport. A positive attitude, athletic ability, character, leadership, and sportsmanship. They are expected to contribute athletically and excel academically and serve the campus and surrounding communities. This is the most prestigious award given to a student-athlete.
Genesis was also named the Off-Season Award Winner her senior year as well as the Practice Player of the Year twice, and Hustle & Guts Award Winner three times. In 2018-2019, she was named the Hat City Tournament MVP Award and WestConn Defensive Player of the Year Winner.
Academically, she was named to the LEC All-Academic Team her sophomore, junior and senior year.
