John McNamara "Coach Mac" is entering his fourth year as an assistant softball coach at Western Connecticut State University in 2025-26. He spent 31 years as a physical Education teacher in the Byram Hills Central School District before retiring in 2025. He coached many different athletic teams at various levels during his time at Byram Hills. Coach Mac also spent many of his summers with the Brewster Rockets Softball Program, responsible for all areas of travel ball. Before coming to the WestConn softball program he was an assistant coach with the Wolves' women’s basketball program from 2008-2011.  McNamara is a 27-year resident of Danbury with his wife, Katie, and daughters, Shea and Kendell.
