Mike Lago, Sr. is in his fifth year coaching the tight ends, running backs and fullbacks at Western.  He recently took on the duties of a Special Teams and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the entire WestConn athletic department. 

Previously, he coached at Newtown High School as a position coach for 10 years.

Lago, Sr. has been married to his wife Dina for the past 29 years, and they have three children. Michael, Jr. 26 and a former Assistant Coach at WestConn, Katie 23, and Jack 21, a former member of the Colonials football team.

The elder Lago was born in Norwalk, Conn. and  graduated from Brien McMahon High School in 1981.

He has resided in Newtown, Conn. for the past 22 years.
