IRVING, Texas - Western Connecticut State University fotoball senior LB Eamon Moran (Stratford, Conn.) was named as a semifinalist for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy, college football's premier scholar-athlete award. The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame proudly announced today a record 206 semifinalists for the 2026 Campbell Trophy.  Celebrating its 37th year, the Campbell Trophy® recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.  Other semifinalists this fall include Oregon's Dante Moore and Lycoming's Brendan Clark, the other Landmark Conference semifinalist.  WestConn, coached by Kevin Jones, is currently 1-2 after a 34-28 setback at Gettysburg and will host Kean on Saturday, S eptember 26 at noon in its next game.

Moran started all 10 games at linebacker 2025, leading WestConn with 67 tackles (28 solo) and adding 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble.  After three games this fall, Moran has 19 tackles (12 solo), 0.5 tackles for loss, and an interception.  A graduate of Bunnell High School, Moran maintains a 3.76 g.p.a. as a psychology major at WestConn and plans to pursue a postgraduate degree in addiction studies.  He was a CSC Academic All-District and a Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll member in 2025 and earned Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Academic Team honors in 2023 and 2024.  Moran is WestConn's PsiChi chapter president, helping psychology majors identify and obtain psychology-related careers and vice president of WestConn's Psychology Student Association.
