MONTCLAIR, N.J. — The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team fell 3-0 to Montclair State University at Pittser Field on Sunday. The Wolves dropped to 5-2-3 on the season, while Montclair moved to 6-2-0 overall.
The Red Hawks took an early lead 5:37 into regulation on a goal by Tyler Diaz. The hosts padded their lead with two more goals in the first half for a three-goal advantage.
Matthews Rocha (Danbury, Conn.) and
Lucas Fernandez (Stamford, Conn.) attempted a team-high three shots, but Rocha and
Jokin Martinez (Jamaica, N.Y.) delivered the only two shots on goal for the Wolves.
Makai Smith (Bridgeport, Conn.) and
Aime Ruggles (Bronx, N.Y.) split time in the net for WestConn as Ruggles denied three shots by the home team.
The team returns home for a non-conference match with Kean University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
