DANBURY, Conn. — The Western Connecticut State University women's tennis team fell 7-0 in its season opener at home versus Plattsburgh State University on Sunday. The Wolves dropped to 0-1, while the Cardinals moved to 2-0.
In singles,
Erickah Tertulien (Norwalk, Conn.) lost in a tiebreaker in her first set, 7-6 (4), before falling 6-2 in the second set at No. 1 Singles. In her return to WestConn as a graduate student,
Lesley Coronel (Danbury, Conn.) had a chance to tie the score at five in the second set, but couldn't convert. In her collegiate debut,
Keira Hammond (Carmel, N.Y.) also had an opportunity to knot the score at five, but wasn't able to get the point for the tie.
The Wolves remain at home on Thursday, September 10 when they host Purchase College at 3:30 p.m. on the Westside Tennis Courts.
"It's not typical to start the season this early, when more practice and reps are needed, but today's match also offers good insight into what we need to work on," head coach
