MANSFIELD, Conn. - The visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves fell short twice against the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in Little East Conference (LEC) softball action this afternoon at Washburne Field. WestConn falls to 4-14 overall and 0-4 in the LEC. Eastern Connecticut improves to 12-6 overall and 4-0 in the conference. WestConn will visit Farmingdale State next in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 8 at 3:30 p.m.
WestConn rallied back from a 5-0 deficit and scored four runs in the fifth inning of game one. Wolves sophomore

Jaycee Filancia (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) belted an RBI double, and sophomore
Sera DeBaggis (Mendon, Mass.) drove in two runs with a two-run single in the inning. Julia Boya tripled in the sixth to help the Warriors add a pair of insurance runs. Senior
Alexis Resto (Shelton, Conn.) singled to lead off the seventh for the Wolves but was left stranded. Filancia had two hits for the Wolves.
In the second game, WestConn led, 10-5, after its fifth turn at bat before Eastern Connecticut scored six runs in the last three innings to steal the victory and the doubleheader sweep. DeBaggis walked and scored on a Warrior error in tne top of the first inning, but Eastern Connecticut scored three runs in the bottom of the inning. DeBaggis scored an unearned run and sophomore
Julia Valukis (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) smashed a two-out, two-run homer in the third inning to give the Wolves a 4-3 lead.
Eastern Connecticut went ahead, 5-4, with two runs in the bottom of the third, but the Wolves answered with two runs in the fourth and four in the sixth. Junior

Angelina Avila (Hicksville, N.Y.) all singled and scored, while Filancia cleared the bases with a double. The Warriors scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and won it in the last of the seventh with three more. Abby Thompson delivered the game-winning hit.
