DANBURY, Conn. - Senior
Alexis Resto (Shelton, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to an 11-8 victory over the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals in softball action this afternoon at Westside Field. WestConn, which suffered its 11th consecutive loss, 6-2, in game one, is now 11-25, while Wesleyan moves to 18-15. The Wolves will close the 2026 season on Saturday when they host Little East Conference (LEC) rival Southern Maine in a doubleheader at 1 p.m.

Shaylee Bealey (Riverhead, N.Y.) and an error in the Wesleyan outfield. Naomi Tesroriere doubled home two runs for the Cardinals in the third inning, but the Wolves came right back again in the bottom of the third thanks to singles by rookie CF

Molly Lennon took their third lead of the game on a two-run single by Molly Lennon in the fourth inning and WestConn took the lead back for the third time with two runs in the bottom of the fourth frame. Wolves junior
Deanna Reimo (Holtsville, N.Y.) led off with a triple and scored on an error to tie the score at 5-5. Senior SS
Jaycee Filancia (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) walked, stole two bases, and scored the go-ahead run on a Scibilia grounder.
The Wolves opened the bottom of the fifth inning with a Resto double and singles by Valukis and Wiatrak to score twice more and the Wolves added their ninth run on a wild pitch. Wesleyan cut its deficit to 9-8 with three runs in the sixth inning, including two on a Lennon home run, but the Wolves answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Filancia singled, stole another base and scored on an error and WestConn scored its 11th run on the fourth Cardinal error of the game.
Wesleyan loaded the bases on walks in the seventh inning before Wolves RHP Lindsay Farinacchio (Red Hook, N..) got the final two outs on a double-play grounder. Farinacchio, who took the loss in the opener, earned a save in the second with 1.2 innings of scoreless work in the circle. Senior LHP
Olivia Bordenaro (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) started and improved to 7-9 with the win. Whitney Gigante took the loss in relief and fell to 7-5 for Wesleyan.
WestConn had taken a 2-1 lead in the first inning of the opener. Filancia singled and came around to score on a hit by Allen and Scibilia walked and scored on a Resto grounder. Lennon blasted a grand slam in the second inning to take a 5-2 lead and Wesleyan starter Kelly Baker held the Wolves off the board the rest of the way to improve to 2-0. Filancia had two hits, was hit by two pitches and two stolen bases for the WestConn offense.
