HARTFORD, Conn. - The visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves scored six runs in the eighth inning to take a 9-7 lead but allowed two runs in the last two frames and lost, 11-10, to the Trinity College Bantams in baseball action this afternoon at DiBenedetto Stadium. WestConn fall to 4-9 with its eighth setback in a row and will host the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans next in a Little East Conference (LEC) doubleheader on Sunday at noon. Jimmy Muthersbaugh (Bethel, Conn.) yielded just two hits in the first three frames and classmate
Bryan Birkl (Farmingdale, N.Y.) singled and scored on a passed ball in the second. Andrew Park homered to lead off the bottom of the fourth and highlight a three-run inning for Trinity, but the Wolves answered with two runs in the fifth to tie the game at 3-all. Junior C
Anthony Marsala (Beacon Falls, Conn.) drew a leadoff walk and senior
Peter Coniglio (New Milford, Conn.) followed with a single. Marsala scored a batter later on a Bantam error, while Keough drove home Coniglio and sophomore Martin Landau (Northport, N.Y.) with a double to left-center later in the fifth frame.

Ryan Vallie (East Haven, Conn.) reached on an error moments later that allowed Birkl and Reo to score and tied the game at 7-7. Keough blasted the ball over the left field fence to give WestConn a 10-7 lead but the Bantams scored twice in the bottom of the eighth and left the Wolves on the field with three singles and a double in their last turn at bat. Tyler Fahey pitched a perfect ninth to collect the win for the home team.
