MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Western Connecticut State University softball team opened the 2026 campaign with a pair of losses at the Space Coast Complex on Saturday. The Wolves fell to Nebraska Wesleyan University, 6-0, and dropped 15-0 in a five-inning game two against the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire. WestConn moved to 0-2, while Neb. Wesleyan improved to 8-7, and the BluGolds improved to 9-4 on the season.
In game one, Nebraska Wesleyan scored three times in the first inning off consecutive errors by the Wolves. The opponents tacked on three more runs across the second and fifth innings.
Against Wisconsin Eau-Claire, the Wolves allowed five runs in the opening inning. The BluGold added six runs in the second, three in the third and one in the fifth.
Lindsay Farinaccio (Red Hook, N.Y.) and
Olivia Bordenaro (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) each struck out two, as Farinaccio pitched three innings total across both games and Bordenaro threw four innings in game one.
WestConn returns to the Space Coast Complex on Sunday to face Salve Regina University at 10 a.m. and St. orbert College at 12:15 p.m.
