NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - Senior midfielder
Tristan McMahon (Farmingville, N.Y.) had five goals and an assist to lead the visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 17-7 victory over the SUNY New Paltz Hawks in men's lacrosse action this afternoon. WestConn improves to 4-2 and the Hawks fall to 0-4. The Wolves will face Vassar next in Davenport, Florida on Saturday, March 14 at noon.
Trailing, 1-0, early WestConn received goals from four different players over a five-minute span to take a 4-1 lead with 9:29 left in the opening quarter. After a second New Paltz goal 134 seconds later, the Wolves rattled off eight in a row to head into halftime up, 12-2. McMahon scored three of the eight and graduate
Michael Zapatka (Newington, Conn.) had two of them. New Paltz scored three of the four goals in the quarter to make it, 13-5, but the Wolves scored three times in the final five minutes to put the game away.
