PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Western Connecticut State University senior
Sara Macary (Naugatuck, Conn.) was named the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week and to the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Division II/III Honorable Mention for her tremendous play in Wolves road games against Castleton and Keene State last week. Macary averaged 31 points and nine rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Wolves, while shooting 58 percent (21-of-36) from the field and 87 percent (20-of-23) from the line. She had 32 points on 12-of-20 shooting from the floor with 10 rebounds and four assists in an 81-77 win at Castleton. In a 98-70 loss at Keene State, Macary poured in 30 points with eight rebounds and a pair of steals. WestConn, coached by Maria Conlon (2nd Season), is currently 9-14 overall and in seventh place in the LEC with a 4-10 record against conference teams. The Wolves will visit league rival Rhode Island College next on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
