DANBURY, Conn. — Seniors
Abigail Corcoran (Newington, Conn.) and
Jordan Breier (Deer Park, N.Y.) each added tallies on Saturday as the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team shut out Keene State College, 4-0, in its final Little East Conference regular-season match on Senior Day at the Westside Athletic Complex. The Wolves improved to 6-3-7 overall and 4-1-3 in the LEC, while the Owls fell to 5-7-4 and 2-3-2. Six Wolves contributed to the four-goal win, including Corcoran's eventual game-winner in the 11th minute.
Following a long lead pass through defenders by
Delaney Israel (Medford, N.Y.) along the near side of the pitch to
Shannon Anderson (New Milford, Conn.), Corcoran received the quick pass from Anderson for an easy dead-center goal.
Olga Mayen-Perez (Brookfield, Conn.) dodged a pair of Owls near midfield before feeding a sprinting
Madelyn Dwyer (Poughquag, N.Y.), whose shot doinked off the crossbar and into the net to put the Wolves up 2-0 in the 19th minute. WestConn scores again in the first half as
Sienna Smith's (Manchester, Conn.) corner kick arcs perfectly and slips past the goalkeeper's gloves at 28:37.
Tessa Kovarczi (Shelton, Conn.) intercepted a clearing pass by the Owls to keep it in Wolves' possession, before
Marin Banfer (Mullica Hill, N.J.) corralled the ball and flicked it to Breier. Breier's shot slid past goalkeeper Michaela DiCicco as she dived to the ground, and the senior scored her first goal of the campaign to give the hosts a four-goal edge in the 70th minute.
Gracen Regan (Monroe, N.J.) denied seven shots on goal to maintain the clean sheet, while DiCicco saved four Wolves' shots.
WestConn closes out its final regular-season game at Bridgewater State University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
