DANBURY, Conn. — Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday. The fifth Wolves of the Week in the 2026-27 academic year for their stellar performances on the turf and the pitch are field hockey senior forward Madison Preston (Brookfield, Conn.) and men's soccer freshman goalkeeper Aime Ruggles (Bronx, N.Y.).

Preston had an impressive week with a combined four goals and two assists in WestConn's victories against Hartford and Keene State. Her strong performances also earned her the Little East Conference (LEC) Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week award. In WestConn's match versus Hartford on October 7, she led the Wolves to a 5-3 win as she scored a hat trick and one assist in the game. At Keene State on October 9, she scored the game-winning goal and had one assist in WestConn's 2-1 victory. This was a notable match for the Wolves, as it marked the team's first-ever win over Keene State.

Ruggles stood tall in net for the Wolves this week, totaling 12 saves and only allowing one goal across two games. The freshman goalkeeper had a strong showing in WestConn's match against Southern Maine on October 10, making seven saves en route to the Wolves' 1-0 victory, the team's fourth shutout of the season. Ruggles also had five stops in a 3-1 victory at Eastern Connecticut on October 7.
