DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves outshot the visiting University of Massachusetts-Boston Beacons, 29-25, but lost, 4-0, in Little East Conference (LEC) men's ice hockey action this afternoon at Danbury Ice Arena. WestConn falls to 1-12 overall and 0-6 in the LEC with its fourth loss in a row. UMass Boston improves to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the league. Freshman goaltender
Dylan Dewachter (London, Ontario) made 21 saves for the Wolves. WestConn will host league rival UMass Dartmouth tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
UMass Boston scored 47 seconds into the game on a goal by Jude Kurtas from Jacob Roberson. WestConn had an early power play and made UMass Boston goalie Alex Koenig made four saves before the Beacons got off their next shot. The Wolves posted four the game's next five shots-on-goal but the first period ended at 1-0. The Beacons scored twice in a span of 46 seconds early in the second frame to go ahead, 3-0, and added a fourth goal with 6:50 remaining before the final break. Dewachter finished with nine saves in the second period and Keonig had 10. In the scoreless third frame, Dewachter added seven more saves and Koenig had 11 to finish wth 29 stops to record a shutout.
Quentin McElligott (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) hit the post for the Wolves midway through the third period. Chris Repmann scored twice for the Beacons.
