Quentin McElligott (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) each tallied goals but it wasn't enough as the Western Connecticut State University men's ice hockey squad fell at Vermont State University Castleton, 6-2, in a Little East Conference matchup on Friday evening.
The Spartans jumped out to an early lead and would not look back as they converted two powerplay goals en route to a 3-0 lead heading into the second period. McElligott netted a short-handed tally early in the second before the visitors retaliated with a three-goal spurt to move ahead 6-1. Alexander canned a goal with 2:14 remaining, setting the final at 6-2.Â
With the loss, WestConn sank to 1-14 overall and 0-8 in league play. The Spartans improved to 8-6-1 and 4-4.
