CASTLETON, Vt. - Sophomore forward Blake Alexander (Mansfield, Conn.) and rookie defender Quentin McElligott (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) each tallied goals but it wasn't enough as the Western Connecticut State University men's ice hockey squad fell at Vermont State University Castleton, 6-2, in a Little East Conference matchup on Friday evening.

The Spartans jumped out to an early lead and would not look back as they converted two powerplay goals en route to a 3-0 lead heading into the second period. McElligott netted a short-handed tally early in the second before the visitors retaliated with a three-goal spurt to move ahead 6-1. Alexander canned a goal with 2:14 remaining, setting the final at 6-2. 

With the loss, WestConn sank to 1-14 overall and 0-8 in league play. The Spartans improved to 8-6-1 and 4-4.
