DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves suffered a 7-0 loss to the visiting Salem State University Vikings in Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis action this afternoon at Westside Courts. All three doubles matches were competitive and two singles matches went three sets. WestConn drops to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the LEC. Salem State improves to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the league. WestConn will visit conference rival Rhode Island College next on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Jessica Nyitrai (Trumbull, Conn.) and freshman
Eilynn Pierre (Queens Village, N.Y.) fell just short in a 7-5 setback. At fourth singles, Nyitrai, won her first set, 6-3, but dropped the next two, 6-2, 6-0. Wolves sophomore
Ava Ciampi (Wolcott, Conn.) dropped her first set, 6-2, dominated the second set with a 6-0 win, but lost the third, 6-3. WestConn senior
Aylina Razeq (Danbury, Conn.) had an early lead in the No. 5 match but lost, 6-4, 6-2. Pierre pushed her opponent at third singles in a 6-3, 6-4 defeat.
"As we continue to focus on improving our games with each day, now today, we must incorporate that into learning how to win important points and using those strategies to win matches," said WestConn Head Coach Shawn Stillman. "Each match has been better than the last."
