Miah Ruiz (New Fairfield, Conn.) assisted on both goals for the Wolves, but the Western Connecticut State University field hockey team fell 6-2 on the road to Springfield College on Saturday. The Wolves dropped to 3-2 on the season, while the Pride moved to 4-1.
The hosts netted five straight goals through the first 30 minutes of action before
Reagan Schoen (Newtown, Conn.) put WestConn on the board with the helper from Ruiz five minutes into the third period. Two minutes later
Alyssa Montalvo (Holbrook, N.Y.) added another goal for the visitors with assists from Schoen and Ruiz. Both goals came from penalty corners, with the first inserted by Montalvo and the second by
Ellenoire Schoen (Newtown, Conn.).
Jaden Kilmer (East Islip, N.Y.) made 10 saves in net for the Wolves, while Sam Orcutt also stopped 10 in goal for the Pride.
WestConn remains on the road as they travel to William Paterson University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
