MAHWAH, N.J. - Despite outshooting the hosts 17-12, the visiting Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team was downed at non-league opponent Ramapo College, 2-0, on Thursday evening at Athletic Center-Turf. With the loss, the Wolves dropped to 1-4-1 overall while the Roadrunners improved to 3-1-1.
Ramapo took an early lead when Lucas Mielnikiewicz took a feed from Mason Leszczynski and found the back of the net just 17:13 into the contest. The teams traded scoring chances throughout the remainder of the first half. The hosts would head into halftime with the 1-0 lead.Â
The Roadrunners added an insurance marker in the 61st minute when Dominic Villalona tallied his first goal of the season, assisted by Luigi Portillo. The Wolves continued to rack up shots but could not break through. Senior forward

Kauan Brandalise (Oxford, Conn.) each recorded three shots to lead the offensive threat.Â
The Wolves went through four different goalkeepers while Roadrunner netminder Zachary Natt was tough in between the posts, finishing with 10 saves to earn the shutout.
WestConn will look to rebound when they head to Vermont State University Castleton for their Little East Conference opener on Saturday at 5 p.m.
