DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves were beaten, 9-0, by the visiting University of St. Joseph Blue Jays in women's tennis action this afternoon at Westside Courts. WestConn falls to 1-1 and St. Joseph is now 2-1. The Wolves had their Little East Conference ((LEC) opener at home against Southern Maine postponed from tomorrow to a date to be determined, and will be back in action on Monday at Farmingdale State at 4:30 p.m. WestConn freshman
Ava Ciampi (Wolcott, Conn.) pushed her opponent to three sets, winning the first, 6-2, before falling in the next two, 6-1, and, 10-1, in the tiebreaker.
"We knew today's match against USJ was going to be tough," said WestConn Head Coach Shawn Stillman. "They're a deep team. Our team fought hard and despite the disparity in scores, we played each match competitively."
