DANBURY, Conn. - Western Connecticut State University has announced the hiring of Emily Cintorino and Charline Plasczynski as assistant softball coaches for the 2024-25 season. Cintorino and Plasczynski are both WestConn alums. Cintorino graduated in 2016 and Plasczynski graduated in 2021 and added a master's degree from her alma mater in 2024. WestConn, coached by Heather Stone (19th Season), finished the 2024 campaign with a 16-22 overall record and tied with Castleton for sixth place in the LEC with an 7-9 mark against conference teams.
Cintorino is a former WestConn pitcher with 41 career wins and helped the Wolves win Little East Conference (LEC) championship titles in 2013 and 2016. She was the LEC Pitcher of the Year in 2015 and was on the LEC All-Conference First Team in both 2015 and 2016. Cintorino, who earned her law degree from Western New England University in 2020, comes back to WestConn from Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden, Connecticut, where she was the team's pitching coach. Sacred Heart advanced to the Connecticut Class M State Championship in 2023.
Plasczynski had an impressive and unique playing career at WestConn. She was the LEC Rookie of the Year and was named to National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-New England Third Team and the LEC All-Conference Team in 2017. After a fine playing career for the Wolves, Plasczynski coached at Trinity College from 2021 to 2023 before returning to her alma mater to play shortstop for the Wolves as a graduate student last spring. In 2024, Plasczynski earned LEC academic awards and earned her masters in addiction studies. Plasczynski holds the WestConn single-season assist record and is the program's career leader in games played and at-bats. Plasczynski as an assistant will be focusing on the infield and hitting.
