DANBURY, Conn. - Freshman Lindsay Farinacchio (Red Hook, N.Y.) allowed one run over seven innings in the circle to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 4-1 win over the Eureka College Red Devils in Gene Cusic Softball Classic action this morning at North Collier Complex. WestConn, which also suffered a 12-0 setback against the No. 18-ranked Coe College Kohawks, moves to 4-4.  Eureka is 4-3 and Coe is 8-3.  Junior Brianna Malvino (Glen Cove, N.Y.) was 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run, and an RBI in the two games today for the Wolves.  WestConn faces Lesley and Wisc.-Superior tomorrow at 9 and 11 a.m., respectively.

Trailing, 1-0, heading into the bottom of the second inning. WestConn scored twice to take the lead on an RBI double by Malvino and a run-scoring base hit by junior Madison Ziccinelli (Miller Place, N.Y.).  The score remained the same into the lower half of the sixth frame when Wolves rookie Kendall Allen (Naugatuck, Conn.) drove in a pair on a two-out, two-run single.  Eureka put two runners on base with one out in the seventh but Farinaccio retired the last two batters on a fly ball and a strikeout to finish her complete-game effort and improve to 2-1.

Coe pounded 12 hits and broke open a 5-0 game with seven runs in the fourth to end the game after five innings on the eight-run rule.  Allen was 2-for-2 at the plate for WestConn but Abbie White tossed a four-hit shutout for the Kohawks.  Senior righty Sydney Chenoweth (Baldwinville, Mass.) took the loss for the Wolves, dropping to 0-2.  WestConn also played a junior varsity game today against the Kohawks, falling by a score of 17-2.  Freshman Caitlin Conley (Ridgefield, Conn.) was 2-for-3 with a run scored, freshman Mikayla Sheehan (Beacon, N.Y.) was 1-for-33 with an RBI and Farinaccio was 2-for-33 with an RBI.
