WELLESLEY, Mass. - Freshman
Eric Quiterio (Windsor, Conn.) recorded a pair of top-three finishes, as the Western Connecticut State University Wolves competed in the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Boston Sports Institute this weekend. WestConn finished with 282 points to claim fifth in the team standings, while Bridgewater State won the team title with 955 points.
Quiterio collected bronze medals in both the 100- and 200-yard butterfly events, posting a time of 53.23 in the 100-yard fly on Saturday and a time of 2:03.01 in the 200-yard fly tonight. Quiterio also touched fourth in the 200-yard IM finals on Saturday with a time of 2:04.27. Wolves sophomore
Leonardo Tamer (Brookfield, Conn.) registered WestConn's other medal-winning race, placing third in the 100-yard IM tonight with a time of 54.54. Tamer was also fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.51 on Saturday and in the 50-yard breaststroke at 28.13 on Friday night. Quiterio and Tamer garner LEC All-Conference recognition for their fine performances.

Rafael Masbad (Ansonia, Conn.) also boasted three top-eight performances including a fourth-place time of 24.01 in the 50-yard butterfly on Saturday. Masbad was seventh in the 100-yard freestyle tonigth at 50.30 and seventh in the 50-yard free at 22.55 on Friday. Wolves sophomore
Ian Chen (Bethel, Conn.) placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:02.40 on Saturday, eighth in the 200-yard back at 2:17.85 on Friday, and eighth in the 50-yard back at 27.97 in tonight's finals. In relays on Friday, Chen, Masbad, Quiterio, and Tamer posted fourth-place finishes in the 400-yard freestyle tonight and were fourth in both the 200-yard free relay and the 400-yard medley relay on Friday.
