DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Western Connecticut State University men's and women's swim and dive teams displayed strong performances at a Little East Conference tri-meet with Plymouth State, hosted by UMass Dartmouth at the Tripp Athletic Center on Friday afternoon.
Rookie
Emily Kiernan (Watertown, Conn.) led the WestConn women with a pair of first place showings. She touched the wall first in the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 2:31.57 before capturing the crown in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:20.88. In diving, classmate
Sophia Simoes (Watertown, Conn.) racked up solid uncontested scores in the one and three-meter events, tallying 146.7 and 153.30, respectively.
Junior
Rafael Masbad (Ansonia, Conn.) and sophomore
Leonardo Tamer (Brookfield, Conn.) paced the men, each racking up a pair of first place finishes. Masbad notched victories in the 100-yard butterfly (58.33) and the 100-yard freestyle (53.61), while Tamer seized the top spot in the 50-yard breaststroke (30.97) and the 100-yard IM (1:00.94).
The Wolves will look to put forth another stellar performance when they head to yet another LEC tri-meet with Rhode Island College at Eastern Connecticut State University on Monday.
