SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves suffered a 3-2 setback against the Western New England University Golden Bears in women's soccer action this afternoon at Suprenant Field. WestConn welcomes Johnson and Wales (R.I.) in its home opener on Sunday at 2 p.m. and Western New England plays at Springfield on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Myah Croze scored both goals for the Wolves.
WestConn fell behind, 3-0, yielding two goals in the first half, including one by Abby Free on a penalty kick in the 27
th minute. After a long scoring drought, the Golden Bears went ahead, 3-0, on a goal by Liza Pinette. The Wolves came roaring back beginning with Croze's first marker off an assist by
Adriana Alfano. WestConn cut its deficit to one goal in the 86
th minute on an unassisted goal by Croze.
Kasey Donnelly made four WestConn saves in the first half before yielding to
Gracen Regan at halftime. Molly McLaughlin had five saves for Western New England.
