GORHAM, Maine - The visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves saw their season come to an end with a 3-0 setback against the University of Southern Maine Huskies in the finals of the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Soccer Championship Tournament this afternoon at Hannaford Field. No. 2-seeded WestConn closes its year in the LEC Championship Finals for the third year in a row with a record of 10-8-4. Southern Maine's Eliza Roy scored just 26 seconds into the game and teammate Catriona Gould scored 10 minutes later to give the home team a 2-0 lead early. WestConn rookie
Sophia Onek (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) took the first Wolves shot in the 11th minute but the bid was saved by Huskies goalie Brenna Atwood. Regan returned the favor with a save against Gould but could not stop yet another shot by Gould in the 18th minute that gave Southern Maine a 3-0 advantage. WestConn managed three more shots in the first half, but Atwood came through with saves on each. Regan was stellar in the second half with seven more stops but the Wolves got off just one early shot-on-goal by junior midfielder
