WestConn Women's Tennis Blanks St. Joseph

DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves exacted some revenge on the visiting University of Saint Joseph, downing the Bluejays, 9-0, in women's tennis action this afternoon at Westside Courts.  WestConn improves to 6-4 and will host Little East Conference rival University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth next on Saturday at 1 p.m.  Junior Brooke Stillman (Brookfield, Conn.) collected her first wins of the fall, taking her singles match, taking her singles match in straight sets at the No. 6 position and teaming with freshman Lizzie Contreras (New Fairfield, Conn.) for an 8-2 triumph at third doubles.  The victory was the first in Contreras' college career.  WestConn swept doubles play for the first time this season and five of its six singles points came in straight sets.  The Bluejays, which had beaten a short-handed Wolves squad, 5-4, in Hartford on September 19, drop to 3-5.

"This was a good win for us today, especially after two tough losses in a row," said WestConn Head Coach Shawn Stillman." We played St Joseph's earlier in the season and weren't as fortunate, so it was great to make up for that loss. We look forward to our next match to try to keep things going."
