WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer squad suffered its second consecutive loss, falling at non-conference opponent Williams College, 2-1, Wednesday evening at Cole Field. Senior forward
Kent Eannarino (Brookfield, Conn.) tallied the lone goal for the Wolves.
With the loss, WestConn dropped to 11-4-2 overall. They had not lost two in a row in nearly two years. They finished the 2021 season at 17-6 before going 20-0-2 in 2022. The Ephs improved to 7-4-2.
The hosts pierced the scoring column 21:58 into the contest when Eamon Gara Grady netted his first goal of the season off a feed from Mohamed Keussom. The visitors evened the count at 1-1 when Eannarino took a pretty pass from sophomore
Nikolas Chevres (Miami, Fla.) and found the back of the net for his fifth scoring strike of the campaign less than five minutes later.
Williams forward Henry Kirkman would tally the game-winner in the 54th minute when he gathered a pass from Griffin Labonski and fired home his first of the season. The visitors had a corner kick opportunity in the final minute but the ensuing shot sailed just over the crossbar.
The Ephs finished ahead in shots, 19-15, and corner kicks, 9-4. WestConn sophomore netminder
Zachary Benson (Milford, Conn.) took the loss and turned aside five shots, while Ben Diffley earned the win for the hosts while stopping four shots.
The Wolves will look to return to the win column when they host Little East Conference foe Southern Maine on Saturday at 1 p.m.
