BOSTON, Mass. - Senior
Natalie Paradise (Naugatuck, Conn.) tallied the lone win of the day in singles play as the Western Connecticut State University women's tennis team fell at UMass Boston in a Little East Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Boston College High School.
With the loss, the Wolves concluded regular season play at 7-6 overall and 4-4 in league play, while the Beacons improved to 9-2 and 8-0.
In doubles action, the tandem of juniors
Bodhi Kitt (Norwalk, Conn.) and
Melanie Grasso (New Fairfield, Conn.) had two match points but couldn't convert and eventually dropped their match in a tiebreaker at the No. 1 spot.
During singles play, Paradise got WestConn on the board with a three-set win from the No. 6 slot, while junior
Sarah Cipriano (Watertown, Conn.) also extended her match to three sets, but fell in the final tiebreaker from the No. 3 position.
"Tough match today, Boston played a good one. However, we played a bunch of close courts and were competitive throughout. We've had a bunch of highlights this season and have gotten better each match. Now we set our focus on the conference playoffs and see if we can do any damage," stated WestConn head coach Shawn Stillman following play.
The Little East Conference postseason tournament is slated to begin on Tuesday.
