Kendall Robinson (Bellport, N.Y.) equaled his season-high of 30 as the Western Connecticut State University men's basketball team cruised to a 98-80 victory at Little East Conference foe UMass Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.
Senior forward
Jaheim Young (Brooklyn, N.Y.) joined them in double figures with 12 points to go along with a trio of steals.
Dhalyn Sanders-Dyer led the Corsairs with 20 points, while John Martins Jr. and Jackson Zancan chipped in with 13 and 10, respectively. Zancan also snagged 10 rebounds to earn the double-double.
The Wolves tallied the first basket of the contest and would not look back. They opened the contest with a 15-3 run. Alkins completed the flurry when he sank a pair from the charity stripe.
Robinson collected 19 of his 30 in the first half as he knocked down 6-of-7 shots from three-point territory. Sophomore guard
Keeshawn Jones (Middletown, N.Y) netted a buzzer beating layup to round out the opening stanza barrage, giving the visitors a 58-37 advantage at the break.
WestConn continued to pour it on thru the second half. The Corsairs would not pose a threat the rest of the way.
With the win, the Wolves upped their record to 17-1 overall and 9-1 in league play. UMass Dartmouth dropped to 5-14 and 4-6.
WestConn returns to action for the first of three straight LEC home games whey they host Castleton University on Monday at 7 p.m. They follow it up with another league tilt against Rhode Island College on Wednesday before seeking to avenge their only loss of the season in a rematch against sixth-ranked Keene State on Saturday.
