Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Robinson & Young Lead Wolves Past Plymouth, 106-83

DANBURY, Conn. - Senior guard Kendall Robinson (Bellport, N.Y.) tallied a game-high 24 points while classmate forward Jaheim Young (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 19 to lead the Western Connecticut State University men's basketball squad to a 106-83 victory over visiting Plymouth State University in a Little East Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Feldman Arena.

The Wolves, who received votes in this weeks D3Hoops.com poll, improved to 15-1 overall and 7-1 in league play. The Panthers dropped to 8-10 and 1-8.

Three other players came off the bench to record double figures for the hosts. Senior forward Ryan Alkins (Queens, N.Y.) and junior guard Jalen Jackson (Brick, N.J.) netted 12 apiece, while rookie guard Jaysean Morgan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) chipped in with 10. Graduate student forward Solomon Silas (Danbury, Conn.) pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

Junior guard Alex Dean (Reading, Mass.) led Plymouth with 18 points, while classmate Kyler Bosse (Manchester, N.H) contributed 17. Junior guard Rylan Canabano (Concord, N.H.) dished out a game-high 10 assists.

The Panthers started the game red-hot as they connected on their first three shots from downtown to seize an early 9-2 advantage. Bosse capped the spurt off a swing pass from Canabano.

That lead was short-lived as WestConn countered to even the count at 9-9 when rookie guard Jaeden Carr (Ossining, N.Y.) knocked in a fastbreak layup.

The Wolves stretched the lead to 15 late in the first half when Robinson muscled in a shot from under the basket. The hosts would head into halftime up, 52-38.

It was more of the same in the second half as Plymouth could not put together a rally. WestConn led by as much as 35 points midway thru. Jackson rounded out their scoring off a feed from Carr. It marked WestConn's second highest point total of the season. They previously put up 110 against SUNY Maritime.

The Wolves will look to extend their win streak to six when they travel to LEC foe UMass Boston on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Wolves downed them at home earlier this season, 82-66.
