DANBURY, Conn. - Senior guard
Kendall Robinson (Bellport, N.Y.) scored 30 points to lead the Western Connecticut State University men's basketball team to a 110-52 victory over visiting Maritime College in the championship game of the Wolves Holiday Tournament at Feldman Arena on Friday afternoon.
Robinson connected on 14-of-19 shots from the field and buried a pair of three points against the Privateers. He also tied junior
Jalen Jackson (Brick, N.J.) with a game-high five assists.
Senior
Ryan Alkins (Queens, N.Y.) and sophomore
Malik Cole (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 12 points apiece for the winners, which improve to 10-0 on the season.
Alkins led all players with nine rebounds for the winners.
Senior Ryan Donovan (North Salem, N.Y.) led the Privateers with 18 points in the loss, which drops them to 5-7 on the year.
The Wolves led from the tip, built a 24-point advantage at intermission then cruised through the final 20 minutes. There largest lead was 61 points when
Jahvon Myrthil (Waterbury, Conn.) buried the host's final bucket with 55 seconds remaining in the game.
City College of New York (CCNY) captured the consolation game with a 75-65 showing over the United State Coast Guard Academy. Yassine Sakhi and Daniel Piszczatowski led the Beavers with 24 and 20 points, respectively.
The Bears drop to 2-9 on the season. Ben Yagey and Abe Countryman led the way for the Academy with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
WestConn returns to Little East Conference action next Saturday when it travels to Keene State College to face D3hoops.com sixth ranked Owls at 3 pm. The Wolves are "Also Receiving Votes" in the latest D3hoops.com national poll.
