Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Muhaj Nets Hat Trick as Men's Soccer Cruises Past Lehman, 6-0

DANBURY, Conn. - Sophomore forward Franz Muhaj (Bridgeport, Conn.) tallied three goals, while classmate Kent Eannarino (Brookfield, CT) dished out a trio of assists as the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 victory over visiting non-conference opponent Lehman College on a wet and windy Thursday night at the Westside Athletic Complex.

With the win, the hosts improved to 7-3 overall, while the visitors fell to 2-2-1.

Senior netminder Daniel Szabo (Trumbull, Conn.) turned aside a trio of shots for WestConn and improved to 7-3, while sophomore Justin Figueiredo (Danbury, Conn.) also saw some relief time in front of the twine. Senior goalie Demiraldo Grunasi (Florence, Italy) recorded three saves and dropped to 2-2-1.

WestConn sparked the scoreboard less than six minutes into the contest when Muhaj gathered a rebound and blasted home his first goal of the game.

Moments later, Eannarino raced down a long pass and threaded a cross-box feed to rookie forward Lorenzo Lauria (New Haven, Conn.) who notched his third goal of the season, widening the gap to 2-0.

The hosts would pour it on with four second half goals. Muhaj booted in his second goal of the contest in the 56th minute before utilizing a nifty give-and-go play with Eannarino to complete the hat trick, good for his fifth goal of the campaign, and a 4-0 lead.

Just seconds later, senior midfielder Matthew Restrepo (Bridgeport, Conn.) connected on his team-leading sixth goal of the slate to make it 5-0. The visitors misplayed a ball into their own net, rounding the count out at 6-0.

WestConn returns to action for an LEC matchup against visiting Keene State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
