Nicole Vivian (New Milford, Conn.) poured in a team-high 19 points to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team to a 71-61 victory over visiting University of St. Joseph at Feldman Arena on Tuesday night.
WestConn extended its win streak to four games and is now 5-2 on the young season. The Blue Jays drop to 3-3 following tonight's non-conference battle.
Sophomore Jordan Ouellette (Bristol, Conn.) canned a game-high 22 points and pulled down a team-high eight caroms for USJ. Fifteen of her points came in the second half of play. Amanda Fudge (Middletown, Conn.) and Cheyenne-Mone Smith (Wethersfield, Conn.) added 18 and 10 points, respectively for the Blue Jays.
WestConn controlled the first 20 minutes and held a 36-15 advantage heading into intermission.

The Blue Jays would not let the host's outburst dissuade them and drew within four points, 62-58 following a three-pointer from Judge with one tick under two minutes remaining in the game.
WestConn closed out the game on a 9-3 run over the final 1:59.
This Saturday, WestConn opens Little East Conference play when it hosts Plymouth State University at 1 pm. Following the game with the Panthers, the WestConn Athletic Department will honor former head coach Jody Rajcula and induct her into the Little East Conference Hall of Fame.
St. Joseph travels to Dean College for a 1 pm affair on December 4.
