Men's Basketball Coasts Past Keystone, 80-59

Box Score LA PLUME, Penn. - After splitting a pair of home games over the weekend, the Western Connecticut State University men's basketball team took the road and coasted past non-conference foe Keystone College, 80-59, on Wednesday night at Ace Spaulding Arena. WestConn senior Wes Nelson (Queens, N.Y.) netted a game-high 16 points, while junior Ahmod Privott (Middletown, Conn.) and rookie Keeshawn Jones (Middletown, N.Y.) joined him in double figures with 12 and 10, respectively. 

The visitors played an efficient offensive contest, finishing 33-of-72 (45.8%) from the floor, while holding the hosts to just 19-of-54 (35.2%). They also won the battle on the glass, 49-34. 

The game was deadlocked at 9-9 early in the first half before WestConn rattled off a run to seize a 16-9 lead. The gap widened to 40-23 when Jones scurried down the lane for a layup shortly before halftime.

Keystone would not be able ot cut into the deficit much in the second half. They trimmed it to11 points on a three-pointer midway thru. However, WestConn continued to play solid defensively to avoid any significant rally. 

Tyrell Lacoste led the hosts with 15 points, all via shots from beyond the arc, while Jack Anderson chipped in with 13. 

With the win, WestConn improved to 2-1 overall while Keystone dropped to 1-2. WCSU returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. against visiting non-conference foe Mt. Saint Mary's College.
