Box Score PATCHOGUE, N.Y - The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team powered past non-league host St. Joseph's College - Long Island, 6-0, on Wednesday evening at Danzi Stadium. With the win, the visitors improved to 11-3 while the hosts dropped to 2-5-1.
Rookie forward
Jordan Dacosta (Jamaica, N.Y) paced WestConn with a pair of scoring strikes while sophomores
Kent Eannarino (Brookfield, Conn.) and
Franz Muhaj (Bridgeport, Conn.) added a goal and an assist, apiece.Â
The visitors dominated play as they racked up 27 shots compared to just three for the hosts.
WestConn got things rolling in the 12th minute when Eannarino took a feed from junior
Lucas Araujo (Norwalk, Conn.) and found the back of the net. Eannarino found Muhaj moments later for a tally, extending the the lead to 2-0 at the break.
The visitors continued to pour it on with a four-goal barrage in the second half. Senior
Matthew Restrepo (Bridgeport, Conn.) sparked the flurry when he gathered a save off his own penatly kick attempt and knocked it into the twine. Dacosta rounded the scoring out at 6-0 in the 73rd minute.
WestConn returns to action at Plymouth State on Saturday at Noon in a Little East Conference matchup.
