Mike Lago, Sr. enters his 14th season coaching the tight ends, running backs and fullbacks at Western Connecticut State University in 2026.  He is also the strength and conditioning coordinator for the entire WestConn athletic department.  Lago served as a position coach at Newtown High School for 10 years.

Lago has been married to his wife Dina for 37 years, and they have three children. Michael, Jr. ,34, and a former assistant coach at WestConn, Katie, 31, and Jack, 28, a WestConn football alum. He is also a grandfather to his two grandaughters, Georgia and Brielle. The elder Mike Lago was born in Norwalk, Connecticut and graduated from Brien McMahon High School in 1981.  He has resided in Newtown, Conn. for 28 years.
