    PAWTUCKET, RI - Western Connecticut State University freshman setter Rory McMaster (Canton, MI) has been named 2019 Little East Conference Rookie of the Year, Junior Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) announced league assistant commissioner Darryl Konicki on Tuesday.

    DANBURY, CT – Despite a match-high 22 kills from junior Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY), the No. 1 seeded Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team fell to visiting No. 4 seeded UMass-Boston, 3-2 (25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 21-25, 15-13), in the semifinal round of the Little East Conference Championship Tournament on Thursday night at Feldman Arena. 
  • Four WestConn Teams Move On In Little East Conference Championships

    DANBURY, CT - Four Western Connecticut State University fall programs earned hosting duties for the Little East Conference Tournament and all four teams are still alive.  Field hockey amd men's soccer, captured exciting victories in its first-round contests on Tuesday, and the women's soccer and women's volleyball will all host semifinals on Thursday.

    DANBURY, CT – Junior outside hitter Victoria Korzan (Southbury, CT) tallied a match-high nine kills without committing an error to guide the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-19) win over visiting non-league foe Mitchell College in the regular season finale for the Colonials on Friday night at Feldman Arena. With the victory, WestConn improved to 21-6 overall, while the Mariners dropped to 13-11.
  • Chenard Powers Women's Volleyball to 3-2 LEC Win Over UMass-Boston

    DANBURY, CT – Junior Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) notched a match-high 17 kills, while rookie setter Rory McMaster (Canton, MI) handed out 37 assists (also a match-high) to lead the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team to a thrilling 3-2 (25-20, 19-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-8) victory over visiting UMass-Boston in a Little East Conference matchup on Wednesday evening at Feldman Arena.

    DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Junior Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, N.Y.) notched a double-double effort of 14 kills and 13 digs to lead Western Connecticut to a 3-1 Little East Conference volleyball victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at the Tripp Athletic Center.

    NEW PALTZ, NY – Despite match-highs of 14 kills from junior Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) and 30 assists from rookie Rory McMaster (Canton, MI), the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team fell at non-conference opponent SUNY-New Paltz, 3-1 (25-22, 17-25, 25-18, 25-16) on Wednesday night at the Hawk Center. With the loss, the Colonials moved to 18-6 overall, while the Hawks climbed over the .500 mark to 11-10. 
  • Women's Volleyball Drops Heartbreaker to Plymouth State Before Blanking Mt. Saint Vincent

    DANBURY, CT – Junior Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) racked up a match-high 20 kills but the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball squad suffered a 3-2 (25-12, 23-25, 20-25, 25-21, 24-22) loss to visiting Little East Conference foe Plymouth State University on Saturday afternoon at Feldman Arena. Classmate Ali Brochu (Winsted, CT) notched a team-leading 11 floors as the Colonials rebounded to blank Mt. Saint Vincent College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-23) later in the day. 
  • Women's Volleyball Upends Eastern, 3-1

    MANSFIELD, CT – The Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball squad notched its fifth straight win as they downed archrival host Eastern Connecticut, 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-21, 25-14) in a Little East Conference matchup on Wednesday evening. The Colonials have now won 13 of their last 14 matches as they improved to 17-4 overall and 4-1 in league play, while the Warriors dropped to 10-8 and 4-2.

With the split, the Colonials moved to 13-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

    BRONX, NY – Rookie setter Rory McMaster (Canton, MI) dished out a match-high 23 assists and four service aces to lead the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball squad to a 3-0 shutout win at non-conference foe Lehman College on Wednesday night. With the victory, the Colonials improved to 12-3 and are now sporting a seven-match winning streak.  The Lightning fell to 2-14.

    DANBURY, CT – Junior Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) led the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team to a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon at Feldman Arena. She smashed a match-high 16 kills in a 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16) victory over visiting Little East Conference foe Rhode Island College before racking up 11 in a 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-18) non-league win over Sarah Lawrence College later in day. With the pair of victories, the Colonials improved to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

    GORHAM, ME – The Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team improved to 9-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play after cruising to a pair of victories on Saturday. The Colonials opened Little East Conference play with a 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-20) win over host Southern Maine before breezing past UMaine-Presque Isle, 3-0 (25-5, 25-5, 25-14).

With the win, the Colonials improved to 7-3 overall while the Camels sank to 4-3.

    DANBURY, CT – The Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball squad fell to visiting 16th-ranked Wesleyan University, 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-14) before rebounding to outlast another non-league foe in Vassar College, 3-2 (25-23, 25-22, 15-25, 23-25, 15-7) on Saturday at Feldman Arena. Junior outside hitter Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) stepped up to lead the Colonials with eight kills against the Cardinals and a match-high 16 versus the Brewers. 
  • Women’s Volleyball Rally Falls Short Against SUNY-Morrisville, 3-2

    DANBURY, CT – Despite team-highs of 13 kills apiece from juniors Victoria Korzan (Southbury, CT) and Ali Brochu (Winsted, CT), the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball squad fell to visiting non-conference opponent SUNY-Morrisville, 3-2 (25-17, 26-24, 23-25, 16-25, 16-14) on Friday evening at Feldman Arena. The Colonials nearly completed the rally but came up just short, dropping to 5-2 overall. The Mustangs improved to 5-2.

    HARTFORD, CT – The Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season at non-league foe Trinity College on Wednesday night, 3-0 (25-15, 25-8, 25-14). With the loss, the Colonials moved to 5-1 overall while the Bantams went to 3-2.

The Colonials blanked the Nittany Lions, 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-19) before shutting out the Golden Eagles, 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-22).

WestConn blanked the Nittany Lions, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-17) before shutting out the Pioneers, 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-19) as they improved to 3-0 overall to begin the season.

    PAWTUCKET, R.I. –  The Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team has been selected to finish fourth according to the 2019 Little East Conference  Women's Volleyball Pre-season Coaches' Poll, release recently. The Colonials (17-10, 5-3 LEC) finished with 37 points in this year's rankings.

    DANBURY, CT – Junior Ali Brochu (Winsted, CT) buried a match-high 17 kills to lead the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball squad to a season opening 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 25-11) victory over visiting Emmanuel College in Day One of the Colonial Classic on Friday at Feldman Arena. Classmate Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) chipped in with 13 floors, while rookie setter Rory McMaster (Canton, MI) dished out a match-high 35 assists in her debut.
