    PAWTUCKET, RI - Western Connecticut State University senior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) has been named to the 2018 Little East Conference All-Conference First Team, announced league assistant commissioner Darryl Konicki on Thursday.

    DANBURY, CT – Despite three players notching double figures in kills, the fourth-seeded Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team saw its season come to an abrupt end with a 3-2 (25-15, 25-22, 15-25, 21-25, 15-13) loss to visiting fifth-seeded Rhode Island College in the Little East Conference Postseason Quarterfinal round on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Colonials concluded the season at 17-10 overall, while the Anchorwomen improved to 15-11 and advanced to the semifinal round where they will meet top-seeded host Eastern Connecticut on Friday evening.

  • King Surpasses 1,000 Career Kills as Women's Volleyball Storms Past Castleton to Claim No. 4 Seed in LEC Tournament

    CASTLETON, VT – Senior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) tallied a match-high 16 kills to surpass 1,000 for her career as the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team stormed past host Castleton, 3-0 (25-10, 25-23, 25-9) on Sunday afternoon. With the victory, the Colonials improved to 17-9 overall and 5-3 in league play, earning the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Little East Conference Postseason Tournament. They will host No. 5 seed Rhode Island College – whom they downed last week – on Tuesday night. Castleton’s season ended at 2-20 and 0-8.
  • King and Brochu Lead Women's Volleyball Past Rhode Island College, 3-1

    DANBURY, CT – Senior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) inched closer to 1,000 career kills with a match-high 15 to lead the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22) victory over visiting Little East Conference opponent Rhode Island College on Senior Night. Sophomore Ali Brochu (Winsted, CT) chipped in with 10 floors, while classmate Skylar Kellam (Fishkill, NY) and senior Jenna Skerritt (Wolcott, CT) added seven service aces each.

    GORHAM, ME - The Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team improved to 15-9 overall and 3-3 in Little East Conference play following a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials edged league rival Southern Maine, 3-1 (28-26, 17-25, 28-26, 26-24), before cruising past non-league foe Colby, 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-11, 25-18). With the pair of wins, WestConn has now won eight of its last nine matches.

    FARMINGDALE, NY – After splitting a tri-match over the weekend, the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team downed non-conference host Farmingdale State, 3-1 (25-14, 19-25, 25-17, 25-13) on Tuesday evening. Senior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) paced the Colonials with a match-high 15 kills, while classmate Mikayla Aubry (Fresno, CA) chipped in with 10. Senior setter Jenna Skerritt (Wolcott, CT) also added match-highs of 34 assists, 14 digs, and five service aces.
  • King and Chenard Lead Women's Volleyball to Tri-Match Split with Keene State & Potsdam

    DANBURY, CT – The Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball squad split a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon, falling to Little East Conference nemesis Keene State, 3-1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22), before rebounding to upend non-league foe Potsdam, 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16) later in the afternoon. Colonial sophomore Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) smashed a match-high 14 kills in the loss to the Owls, while senior Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) racked up a match-high 21 in the victory over the Bears. Keene State fell to Potsdam, 3-1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-15, 25-22) in the mid-afternoon match.

Senior Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) led the Colonials with five kills while senior Mikayla Aubry (Fresno, CA) chipped in with a pair of blocks.

    WILLIMANTIC, CT – Senior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) smashed a match-high 12 kills as the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team was downed at cross-state Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-18) on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in league play, while the Warriors improved to 9-4 and 2-1.

    DANBURY, CT – After a pair of shutout victories on Saturday, the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team was edged at home, falling to non-conference opponent SUNY New Paltz, 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-23) on Tuesday evening. Sophomore Nicolina Chenard (Ardsley, NY) paced the Colonials with 10 kills, while senior Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) chipped in with eight. Junior Madison Van Pelt (Montgomery, NY) led the Hawks with a match-high 11 floors, while senior Meredith Dignan (Millbrook, NY) dished out 28 assists.

    DANBURY, CT – The Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball team improved to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in Little East Conference play following a pair of shutout victories against league nemesis Plymouth State, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-19) and non-conference opponent Lehman College, 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-6) on Saturday afternoon at Feldman Arena. Colonial sophomore Nyilah Horton (Centennial, CO) recorded a match-high three solo blocks against the Panthers, while senior Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) smashed a match-high 12 kills versus the Lightning.

    DANBURY, CT – Despite match-highs of 13 kills from senior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) and three block assists from classmate middle hitter Mikayla Aubry (Fresno, CA), the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball squad fell to visiting non-conference opponent Trinity College, 3-1 (17-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-17) on Tuesday night at the O’Neill Center’s Feldman Arena. With the loss, the Colonials dropped to 4-5 overall, while the Bantams improved to 4-1.

After falling 3-0 (20-25, 12-25, 20-25) to Coast Guard in the opener, the Colonials held on to edge Maine Maritime, 3-2 (25-23, 14-25, 11-25, 25-22, 11-15) in the nightcap.

    DANBURY, CT – After opening the 2018 season with a pair of wins yesterday, the Western Connecticut State University women’s volleyball split two contests as they hosted the final day of the Colonial Classic on Saturday. The Colonials fell to Salve Regina 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22) before rebounding with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Simmons, 3-2 (28-26, 14-25, 13-25, 25-17, 15-5) as they moved to 3-1 overall. 
  • Women's Volleyball Opens 2018 Slate With Pair of Wins on Day One of Colonial Classic

    DANBURY, CT – Senior outside hitter Kamari King (East Hartford, CT) tallied match-highs of 13 and nine kills in victories over FDU-Florham and Lasell, respectively, as the WestConn women’s volleyball squad opened the 2018 season in Day One of the Colonials Classic at Feldman Arena on Friday. The Colonials blanked the Devils, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-21) before shutting out the Pride, 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 27-25) improving to 2-0 overall. WestConn returns to action for Day Two on Saturday at 10 a.m. against Salve Regina before concluding play versus Simmons at 2 p.m.
