Women's Swimming Wins At Albertus Magnus, 95-44

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Western Connecticut State University women's swim team defeated host Albertus Magnus College, 95-44 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Colonials are now 1-1 on the young season.

In the 13-event meet, Hope Johnsky (Bristol, CT) and Molly Henry (Pound Ridge, NY) each registered a pair of individual wins against the Falcons.  Johnsky captured the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:30.05 and the 500-yard freestyle in at 6:00.65.  That time was placed as an exhibition finish for the winners.  Henry open the individual portion of the slate with a win in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:10.90) then cruised to victory in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:11.47.

Olivia Sosnoski (Westport, CT) earned a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle sprint with a time of 29.02.

Madison Lacy (Norwich, CT) captured the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.93) while Maria Guimaraes' (Naugatuck, CT) exhibition finish in the 100-yard breaststoke closed out the Colonials list of victors.

"We had a number of great times today and came out with the win," stated WestConn head coach Jill Cook.  "We have four more meets before the end of November and it would be nice to stay on a roll."

WestConn host Maritime College on Thursday, November 7.  The first events is slated to begin at 6 pm at the O'Neill Pool.
