Henry Leads Women's Swimming Past RIC, 96-90

SMITHFIELD, RI - Rookie Molly Henry (Pound Ridge, NY) won three events to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's swimming team past Rhode Island College, 96-90, at Bryant University on Thursday evening. The Colonials return to action when they host New Rochelle on Saturday at 11 a.m.

"Coming off of a meet last night, the women did a great job in pulling together for a win," stated WestConn head coach Jill Cook following the victory.

Henry got things started in the opening 50-yard backstroke, touching the wall ahead of her competitors in a time of 32.01.

Junior Ourania Koutoumba (Danbury, CT) racked up the next win for the Colonials in the 50-yard breaststroke, finishing in 39.26 just ahead of classmate Albertine Rwabukamba (Redding, CT).

Shortly thereafter, Henry picked up her second win in the 50-yard free at 26.32. She then earned her final first place spot of the evening in the 100-yard free.

Senior Annelise Alfieri (Southington, CT) rounded out the Colonials night, capturing the top slot in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:22.27, just ahead of RIC's Athena Sampalis, 1:22.40.
