Bly and Peet Pace Women's Swim & Dive in Loss to Plymouth, 136-130

DANBURY, CT - Senior Holly Bly (Watertown, CT) and sophomore Rachel Peet (New Fairfield, CT) each collected victories as the Western Connecticut State University women's swim and dive team fell to visiting Plymouth State, 136-130, on Senior Day at the O'Neill Center Pool on Sunday afternoon. Bly and classmate Sarah Sheaffer (New Fairfield, CT) were honored after the meet. With the loss, the Colonials moved to 3-6 overall while the Panthers improved to 2-7.

"With our third meet in four days, we've achieved 54 season-best times and today topped it off with one of our most outstanding dual meets of the season. I couldn't ask for a better string of swims this week" said WestConn head coach Jill Cook following the meet.

Bly got things started for the Colonials in the 1,000-yard freestyle. She tapped out in a season-best 12:56.74, capturing first place.

Moments later, Peet seized the top spot in the 200-yard free, touching the wall in yet another personal-best, 2:10.15. Later in the meet, she took home first place in the 500-yard free in a time of 5:58.90, while Bly earned second.

Sheaffer put together a nice string of dives in the three-meter as she squared off against Plymouth's Casey Allaire (Mattapoisett, MA). Allaire would earn the nine points, finishing ahead, 229.30- 171.25.

Senior Emily Wadlinger (Lebanon, NH) paced the Panthers, snagging a trio of first place finishes in the 50-yard backstroke, 50-yard free and 100-yard back. Classmate Addie Schumaker (Haymarket, VA), sophomore Megan Gresham (Waterbury Center, VT) and rookie Cammie Turell (Bowie, MD) each tallied a pair of wins for the visitors.

WestConn returns to action for the LEC's at UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday at 11 a.m.
