CASTLETON, Vt. - Sophomore Ed Dalton (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished ninth with a time of 17:15.4 over 5,000 meters to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to third place as a squad in the Castleton University Men's Cross Country Invitational Meet this afternoon.  WestConn totaled 81 to finish 17 points better than fourth-place UMass Boston.  Keene State won the team title with 28 points.  WestConn will compete in the Trinity College Invitational next Saturday, September 12.

Dalton was well ahead of the 10th-place finisher, while UMass Boston's Albert Ferreras won the individual title at 16:41.7.  Wolves sophomore Alex Neves (Danbury, Conn.) added a 17th-place time of 17:56.4 and rookie G Hungerford (Thomaston, Conn.) was 18th at 18:02.5.  WestConn freshmen Jace Kiernan (Watertown, Conn.) and Ivan Butova (Niantic, Conn.) were 21st and 22nd to give the Wolves four runners among the top 22 in the race.
