DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves dropped a  7-0 decision against the visiting University of Massachusetts-Boston Beacons in Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis action this afternoon at Westside Courts.  WestConn falls to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the LEC.  The Beacons improve to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the league.  WestConn will visit Lehman next on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

UMass Boston swept the doubles, with several doubles games coming down to a deuce situation that were each won by the Beacons.  In singles, Sharee Priar made her college singles career debut at sixth singles in a 6-1, 6-3 loss. Wolves rookie Keira Hammond lost 6-2, 6-2, with 10 of her 14 games going to deuce at fifth singles. At second singles, sophomore Eilynn Pierre (Queens Village, N.Y.) had her match came down to the wire in the second set in a 6-1, 6-4 setback.

"We knew going into today's match that we were facing one of the top teams in the conference and that we were short two starters.  Our ladies were determined to fight for every point and they did," said WestConn Head Coach Shawn Stilllman. "They walked away knowing that they can compete with any team if they play smart and give 100% effort."
